What a way to start the morning.
I’m here at the DePaula Chevrolet body repair shop. No, I haven’t been in a car accident… but the front right headlight is only working intermittently. I’ve already received one warning from the local ticket-troopers, and I don’t want a second warning – well, warning would most likely mean a ticket. And I don’t mean a Pearl Jam concert ticket.
So while DePaula Chevrolet diagnoses the issue (2-1 odds it’s a loose wire, 3-1 odds it’s a fuse, even money it’s shocks struts and a new transmission), I’m sitting here in the waiting area until the Blackbird is examined by a GM certified ophthalmologist.
And I start to think about lots of things.
Such as….
I wish I was good enough to have excelled at a sport as a kid. I did play soccer for about six months, and here’s how it went. Mitch Reiter was the best goaltender in the league and we lost by scores of 8-0. How can this be possible? Take a wild guess who was the worst defenseman in the entire league. Come on, just guess…
In the past two or three weeks, I’ve reconnected with four of my old high school friends on Facebook. So good to hear from them, it’s been too long away.
Two years ago, I dealt with a new car and an OnStar program that was antiquated. Today, i’m about $4/mile away from paying off my car loan before the Blackbird hits 100,000 miles, and I haven’t missed having OnStar. SiriusXM, however, you ain’t taking that away from me.
I have an exciting upcoming are for the Collarworld series, and there will be – for the first time in two years – a new Christmas in Iverhill short story.
Next year, my big five movies to see – Star Wars 7, Avengers 2, the Peanuts movie, Tomorrowland and Mad Max: Fury Road.
I’ve really gotten into gold-mining reality shows of late. That includes Gold Rush, Bering Sea Gold, Bering Sea Gold: Under The Ice…
At the end of December, I’ll hit the highway for something special. It will be the culmination of ten years of study and education. What, you didn’t know that in addition to writing a blog and everything else I do in my life, I’ve been working toward a diploma? Man, I gotta update the blog more often… 🙂
Okay, I’m going to go check out my car and hope all is well. Maybe the Blackbird just needs an eyepatch to strengthen it’s eyesight. Yep, automobile ambylopia. #hahahahaha
And the tech brings me the news. Apparently when I had the bulb replaced by Pep Boys a couple of weeks ago, the repair guy left a big fingerprint on the halogen bulb… which caused the bulb to malfunction. freakin’ Pep Boys… grrrrrrr
Lucky it was an EZ fix. Hyundais eat headlamps. I’m lucky if I get four months out of them. So far, the only explanation I’ve gotten is, “They all do that.”
